Buyeo National Museum

Built to reflect the architectural styles prevalent during the Baekje period, the museum has many interesting artifacts from the ancient kingdom, many of them excavated from the royal tombs in Neungsan-li. With over 13,000 items in its collection, only about 1,000 pieces are shown at any given time. One of the most impressive items on display is the Geumdongi, a gilded bronze incense burner recovered from one of the tombs. The base of this unique piece is a rising dragon and it's topped by a phoenix -- it is the item that is the most emblematic of the height of Baekje skill and craftsmanship. They also have relics that date from prehistory to the Joseon period, including a gilt bronze sitting Buddha, prehistoric pottery, and musical instruments. All are displayed in three exhibit halls and an outdoor exhibit space, which offers a variety of stone remains from the area.
