Report Incorrect Data-한국관광공사 제공 컨텐츠입니다-박경중 가옥은 전라남도 나주시 남내동에 위치해 있으며 전남문화재자료 제153호로 1987년 6월 1일 지정되었다가, 2009년 12월 16일 국가지정 중요민속자료 제263호로 승격되었다. 평탄한 지형에 남향으로 지어진 이곳은 전남지역에서 단일 건물로 최대 규모를 자랑하고 있으며 관청으로 사용될 것을 감안하여 지은 건축물이다. 초당은 1884년, 안채는 1910년, 아래채는 1917년, 바깥채는 1930년에 건립되었다고 전해진다. 밖에서 본 박경중 가옥은 기와로 된 문간채와 초가인 바깥행랑채만 보이기 때문에 규모를 짐작할 수 없으나, 내부로 들어가 보면 새롭게 건물들이 나타나며 안채, 초당, 바깥사랑채, 아래채, 헛간채, 바깥행랑채, 문간채 등의 7동으로 이루어진 큰 규모의 가옥임을 알게 된다. 팔작지붕 문간채를 지나면 초당이 자리잡고 있고 아래채는 안채에서 오른쪽으로 위치해 있다.바깥사랑채는 안채와 일직선 상으로 맨 앞에 지어져 있으며 두 건물 사이는 담장으로 경계를 이루고 있지만 담장 한 쪽에 좁은 문이 설치되어 왕래하는데 불편함은 없다. 안채는 정면 7칸, 측면 2칸의 팔작지붕으로 규모가 작지 않으며 우측으로 마루가 이어지고 두 번에 걸쳐 기단을 높여 조망권을 좋게 하였다. 또 안채 후면에는 굴뚝과 함께 돌확이라는 우수시설을 갖추고 있는데 돌확에 빗물이 고이는 양으로 침수지역을 판단하고 대비하였다. 돌확은 고택에서 특이한 시설로 방문자들의 눈길을 끌고 있으며, 정원에는 잘 다듬어진 잔디밭과 민예품들로 고택의 운치를 더해 주고 있다. 조선말기 상류층 문화를 엿볼 수 있는 고택으로 그 시절의 생활용품이나 농기구들이 남아있어 아이들 역사 교육의 장소로도 좋다. 또한 나주 시내 중심가에 위치하여 나주 주변의 모든 관광지의 중심이다.
